It's time, ladies and gentlemen, to take up the G&S flag once more and get recruiting! To this end, YUSU have kindly granted us a half-hour slot from 2- 2:30 on stage for performing, and we shall be doing When The Foeman Bears His Steel from Pirates and The Mikado Finale Act II. There'll be a rehearsal in L/N/002 at 6pm on Thursday. I would also really like it if we were to do Freshers' Fair in costume. For the lads, this is probably going to mean pirate costumes, whereas for the ladies, fairies (from Iolanthe) and kimonos! Don't worry if you don't have anything- I'm going to do a container raid and bring back what booty I can muster, but of course, if you've got your own thing, that's very welcome too!
If you can't make it to the performance, help on the stall would still be most appreciated, and there's always a queue who, I'm sure, love people screaming 'Yarrrr!' and thrusting leaflets at them.
Ultimately, what I really want to do is to build up a base of undergraduates strong enough that we can have our pick of shows next year. This especially means getting lots of guys along!
And be sure to check out our newly re-fashioned website, which looks absolutely stunning! Thanks to Mike, Morven, and Raph for making it happen! You will notice a very exciting new 'store' button which, at the moment, allows you to buy Pirates (on DVD), but hopefully, with the help of our archivists, will soon blossom into a full-fledged emporium (with real pirates... available on a mercenary basis... for covertly ambushing Spanish galleons).
Yours anticipatorily,
Jenny
